ABOUT US (SITE / EDITORS)
OUR STORY IN A NUTSHELL:
Our old website, sherlock.extra.hu was the largest Hungarian Sherlock Holmes site in the years around 2010. We are grateful to Edina Jászberényi, Bálint Teller and the late famous actor, László Tahi Tóth for once supporting this site. László Tahi Tóth was the Hungarian voice of Jeremy Brett's Holmes &
the president of the Hungarian Sherlock Holmes Club.
In 2013 Aleš Kolodrubec, the president of the Czech Sherlock Holmes Society contacted us via email, telling that although he doesn’t understand the language, he is impressed by the large number of subsites, by the unique pictures and by the love the site shows towards the greatest detective of the world. He also pointed out the great amount of work we had put into the articles. He encouraged us to reach more Holmes fans and show them our work in English. Luckily Revati reads and writes english, so we were able to fulfill his honourable request. So this way we have became international with sherlockian-sherlock.com. At the end of that same year The Sherlock Holmes Society of London mentioned our site in The District Messenger, which made us extremely proud.
Sadly our webmaster, SherlockExtra has several chronic illnesses and because of these she needs breaks to recover from time to time. The site functions in spite of these pauses. We live far from each other, so we telecommute and are in contact via emails from the beginning. It is our great pleasure that since 2013 several Sherlock Holmes societies became our partners, and we are one of the sites recommended by the Sherlockian.net portal.
In 2021, we have received our BSS certificates from The Shaka Sherlockians of Hawaii.
The Hungarian Sherlock Holmes Club has been listed in the 2021 Baker Street Almanac, which is a great honour. The Almanac is a massive collection of worldwide Sherlockian societies and clubs and their activities. It's in this same year that The Arthur Conan Doyle Encyclopedia has started recommending our site.
We are very proud to be able to comment on Professor Jeremy Black's wonderful book: The Game Is Afoot: The Enduring World of Sherlock Holmes (2022).
Recommended site: Hungarian references in the life and works of Conan Doyle
OUR MISSION:
We do hope that we delight Sherlockians, Holmesians and Sherlockology fans. We would like to deal with the Great Detective in a deeper and more comprehensive way. Our aim is to show the phenomenon of Holmes as detailed as possible with its numerous respects, and we would like to show the effects this character exerted on many aspects of life and arts. Sherlock has lots of cultural virtues - it is a feature of his we really love. We try to set a high standard with our articles. We gladly publish Sherlockian artworks/writings for free, if they fit the standard of our site. Please note that sending us your artworks does not mean automatic publishing. We reserve the right to reject pieces.Thank you for your understanding.
